Meet Our Staff
Joyce G. Rogers
Joyce first came to the College of Communication in 1975 where she worked in the Mass Communication and Journalism Departments. In 1986 she started COM Career Services. She is involved in developing and providing services covering all aspects of career development. Joyce handles external relations with employers, provides career counseling for students and alumni, plans networking events, and instructs career workshops. She currently works with a staff of 20 students to provide on-campus recruiting, job and internship databases, resume services, networking programs, special events, and special opportunities. “This is a very exciting time for us. We have just moved to new offices, we are expanding our services and resources and we will be working in conjunction with other Career Offices at Boston University to provide additional opportunities to our students and alumni.”
Eric Baker
Eric (COM ‘13) is planning to BUCOP Journalism and International Relations. He was born and raised in Overland Park, KS right outside Kansas City, KS. He chased tornadoes after plowing the fields every morning before following the yellow brick road to school. This is his first year working in COM Career Services.
Lindsay Beatty
Lindsay (CAS ‘13) is a freshman in biochemistry at the College of Arts and Sciences. She is from Youngstown, New York.
Lisa Bilow
Lisa (COM ‘11) is a first-year graduate student majoring in Mass Communication. She recently graduated from Northeastern University with a BA in Communications-Media Studies. As an undergraduate, Lisa worked at The TJX Companies, Boston.com and MIX 98.5 radio station where she participated in marketing, social networking and the analysis of online metrics and research. She studied at Charles University in Prague and hopes one day to combine her love for travel with a career abroad. Lisa is from Natick, Massachusetts.
Sharif Butler
Sharif (COM ‘11) is a first-year graduate student majoring in Television Management. Over the summer he has served as a committee member of the Roxbury Film Festival in Massachusetts where he was on the marketing and advertising board. Sharif helped to create Twitter, Facebook and MySpace pages. He also did street team marketing with local businesses and community centers. Sharif plans on working for TV One network after he graduates in 2011. He is a New York native.
Chris Clemente
Christopher (COM ‘11) is majoring in Film Production, with a minor in Spanish. He has worked for COM Career Services since he was a freshman and is currently a videographer intern at Improv Asylum in Boston’s historic North End. During the school year, Christopher directs Bay State, the longest running, award-winning college soap opera that airs on the university’s television channel, BUTV-10. He hails from a hamlet in Hampstead, NH.
Jen Ehrlich
Jennifer (COM ‘11) is a first year graduate student majoring in Public Relations. She was an undergrad at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst where she majored in English and minored in Sociology. Jen is returning to school after working at a horse barn in Belchertown, MA where she helped run a lesson program and continues to stable her horse, Bandit. She is originally from Longmeadow, MA.
Jill Foley
Jill (COM ‘10) is a Photojournalism graduate student, and is very excited about joining the COM Career Services team in Fall 2009! She graduated from Haverford College with a BA in Anthropology, a concentration in Latin American Studies, and a minor in Spanish. Before pursuing her Masters Degree, Jill worked as a Hispanic Outreach Assistant and Web Content Manager for Catholic Relief Services in Baltimore. She has studied in Costa Rica and Bolivia, and enjoys traveling abroad. She is from Gaithersburg, MD.
D'Arda Hayes II
D’Arda (BU ‘13) is a freshman in CGS with plans to tranfer into COM his junior year to study Public Relations. He likes languages and traveling. D’Arda is originally from Dallas, Texas.
Brittaney Kiefer
Brittaney (COM ‘10), is majoring in Journalism, with a concentration in News-Editorial and a minor in Religion. She has worked for COM Career Services since she was a freshman and has found several internships through their internship database. Brittaney is currently an intern at Sarah Colt Productions, where she is helping to produce two episodes of a new Frontline series for WGBH. She is originally from Tampa, FL.
Annie Kuo
Annie (COM ‘11) is a graduate student majoring in Public Relations. Annie has had four years of marketing and public relations experience with non-profit, private, and public sector organizations in southern California. She attended the University of California, Santa Barbara where she received a B.A. in Sociology. She was born and raised in Orange County, CA.
Brittany Lyons
Brittany (COM ‘11), is a graduate student majoring in Mass Communication Research. She has a BSBA in International Business with a French minor from Xavier University. At Xavier Brittany was Co-Director of X-Action, the University’s student service organization. This is her first year at BU and working for COM Career Services. She is originally from Louisville, KY.
Cat Manibog
Cat Manibog (COM ‘11) is a CAS defector and newly transferred COM student with an Advertising major and a Psychology minor. She has been working for COM Career Services since her freshman year, and just finished an internship with the Hawaii Medical Reserve Corps. She enjoys photography, good music, and big cities. When not in Boston, she lives in a little grass shack on a beach in sunny Hawaii.
Lexie O'Connor
Lexie (COM ‘11) is majoring in Broadcast Journalism, with a minor in Psychology. She has worked for COM Career Services since she was a freshman and is very involved within the BU community. Lexie is a reporter and anchor for BU’s television sports show, “Terrier Nation,” and a reporter and Administrative Coordinator for BU’s news show, “Inside Boston.” She is a member of the Delta Gamma fraternity and a delegate on BU’s Panhellenic Council. She is also a group exercise instructor at BU’s Fitness and Recreation Center. She has interned at WBZ-TV News in Boston, and recently returned from interning at WCBD News in Charleston, SC. She is from Holden, Massachusetts.
Nina Ong
Nina (COM ‘10) is currently working towards her Masters of Science in Mass Communications. This is her first year with COM Career Services, as well as residing on the East Coast. She is a native Californian and completed her undergraduate education at UC Irvine. Her past internship experiences include: working with several small marketing companies, event coordination and peer consulting at the UC Irvine Career Center, involvement with BCBG Max Azria Human Resources, and CosmoGirl marketing and sales in NYC. She is very thankful for her opportunities and is passionate about traveling, friends and family, food, and exploring oneself.
Maurice Rahmey
Davia Sills
Davia (COM ‘11) is working to complete a M.F.A. degree in screenwriting. As an undergraduate, she helped other students develop their communication skills at SMU’s Writing Center. Davia majored in English (creative writing specialization) and music (vocal performance specialization) and minored in medieval studies. She journeyed here from the Texas flatlands.
Deborah Smith
Deborah (COM ‘11) is a first-year graduate student and is so excited to finally be at BU! She is working towards her master’s degree in Public Relations, specifically in International PR. Deborah recently graduated from Vassar College, and while there she was an Anthropology-Sociology joint major. She is also excited to join the COM Career Services team filling the position of Messenger Coordinator for the upcoming year. She will be in charge of writing and editing the Messenger (our twice weekly e-letter distributed to all COM students concerning upcoming events, notices of interest, and new job/internship postings). Deborah hails from sunny San Diego, CA via Charlotte, NC so she brings the California cool with a touch of Southern charm to COM.
Zachary Taylor
Zack (COM ‘12) is a Public Relations major and plans to minor in Business. As a huge fan of film and music, Zack would like to work in the fast-paced world of Talent Relations. He grew up outside Buffalo, NY in the village of Hamburg.
Jacquinn Williams
Jacquinn (COM ‘11) is a first year graduate student majoring in Public Relations. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Rowan University. Jacquinn most recently worked as a book publicist and is currently a freelance entertainment writer. A lover of people and of language, she enjoys spending time volunteering, singing and meeting new people. Jacquinn is originally from Brockton, Massachusetts.
