Visiting Scientists

The Visiting Scientist Program offers health services researchers an opportunity for in-depth collaboration with our experienced research team.  CoHSTAR provides visiting scientists hands-on experience working on-site with investigators at one of the three collaborating institutions (Brown University, University of Pittsburgh, & Boston University).

Katherine Berg, PhD, PT

CoHSTAR Affiliating Site: Brown University

Area of emphasis: Quality measurement in post-acute care

Dr. Berg is the Chair and Associate Professor of the Department of Physical Therapy, the Executive Chair of the Rehabilitation Sciences Sector; and the Chair of the Graduate Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto. She is a fellow of interRAI, an international team of academics, clinicians and health policy professionals committed to developing and using standardized assessments to improve the quality of care to disabled populations.

 

Kristin Archer (Vanderbilt University / Lauren Holland)Kristin Archer, PhD, DPT

CoHSTAR Affiliating Site: University of Pittsburgh

Area of emphasis: Pragmatic trials, cost effectiveness analysis

Dr. Archer is an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Vanderbilt University. Her research focuses on how psychosocial factors influence patient outcomes, particularly in surgical populations.

 

 

Freburger

Janet Freburger, PT, PhD

CoHSTAR Affiliating Site: Brown University

Area of emphasis: Transitions of Rehabilitation Care

Dr. Freburger is an Associate Director  of Medical Practice and Prevention Program, and a Research Fellow at Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research through the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
