Research Interests

I am interested in the neural mechanisms that underlie learning and memory, specifically mediated by the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus. I use a combination of lesions and systemic and inducible knockout animals that allow me to study cognitive behavior at the anatomical and molecular level. My thesis work is focused on using these models to characterize the cognitive deficits associated with Schizophrenia, by examining the putative roles of subregions of the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex in relational memory, social behavior, cognitive flexibility, and "what-where-when" memory.
