Registering for the STD-CME Course

Click on the "Registration" Button on the left-side side to register for the STD-CME Course for which, if you pass the accompanying tests, you will receive CME credit from Boston University School of Medicine, Department of Continuing Medical Education (CME), or nursing contact hours from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Bureau of Communicable Disease Control.

New Registrants must fill out the complete registration form before entering the course. When you return later, your email address will serve as your login identification. Simply click on the "Log in" button near the top right of these introductory pages to begin or return to your online course work. You may exit the course at any time, and return to complete the course using your email address as your login identification later.

Accreditation and CME Information

Please review the Accreditation and CME Information which explains eligibility for, and terms of CME Credit, and nursing contact hours.

How and when will I get my Certificate?

Boston University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. CME credit is for physicians, physician assistants, and certified nurse midwives. This Program is offered by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Bureau of Communicable Disease Control. Nursing contact hours for this program will be provided in accordance with the Board of Registration in Nursing Regulations governing continuing education (CMR 244 5.00). Other clinicians are encouraged to review the course material and complete the test, and will receive a certification of completion. Once you successfully complete the CME test of each module, you can download your CME certificate, nursing contact hours certificate or certificate of completion to be printed locally.

After registering or logging in to the STD-CME Course, an accounts page appears which lists the eight sections of course material, and the current status of what quizzes you have taken.

Clicking on a section's title opens a new window, revealing the first page of content for that section.

1. The homepage is always readily accessible by clicking on the top left button
   
2. Arrow buttons at the top and bottom right of every page allow you to go to the previous and next page throught the material, and the side key changes dynamically for faster and simpler navigation.
   
3. The side key on the left of the first "Section Objectives" page displays all pages in that section, enabling you to go immediately to any page. As you progress through each page, the side key changes dynamically for faster and simpler navigation.
   
4. The following symbols are on the side key for ready access.
   This indicates a key point on that page.
   This indicates a video/multimedia segment, which you can view if Macromedia Flash Player,(for SWF Files) or Microsoft Windows Media Player, (for WMV Files), is installed on your system.
   This indicates an Interactive Web-based case offered by the National Network of STD/HIV Prevention Training Centers.
   This indicates the CME Quiz page link.
   
5. Blue buttons on the top right of every content page lead to supplementary material.
   
6. For pages with lengthy material, an "Up" Arrow button exists to the left to return to the top of the page, and named links exist at the top of the page to go quickly to points on that page.

A link to a PDF file of the material.

CDC Homepage-
An external link to the Centers for Disease Control website.

Anatomy-
A compiled page of printable images of the female and male anatomy (also in Section 1, pages 1.4.0, and 1.4.1).

Clinical Images-
A compiled page of all images, and flash and streaming video throughout that section.

Course Outline

An outline of all of this site's introductory pages, and all of the pages within the eight modules is listed in the "Course Outline" introductory page, its button visible in the left side-bar.

The eight sections comprise the course content, and each ends with a CME multiple-choice quiz. You can view your test score in the "My Accounts" page after logging in. After completing a CME quiz, you will be asked to complete a brief course evaluation.
