Aubrey Milunsky, MB.B.Ch., D.Sc., F.R.C.P., F.A.C.M.G., D.C.H. Professor Milunsky is internationally known for his work in prenatal genetic diagnosis and the epidemiology of birth defects. He is author, editor, or co-editor of 22 books and author or co-author of over 428 scientific communications. He is editor of the textbook, Genetic Disorders and the Fetus: Diagnosis, Prevention and Treatment (6th edition in preparation), which is the major worldwide reference text for prenatal diagnosis. His latest trade book is Your Genetic Destiny: Know Your Genes, Secure Your Health, Save Your Life (published in six languages). He has given invited lectures in 31 countries (including the Vatican) and has been honored, by election, as a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of England, and with an award for excellence in teaching. He is an editorial board member of prestigious journals, including Prenatal Diagnosis. The Consumers’ Research Council of America has listed him in their Guide to America’s Top Pediatricians.
Professor Milunsky is known internationally for his work in clinical and molecular genetics with special reference to gene discovery. He is the author or co-author of over 190 scientific communications. He is co-editor of the major textbook, Genetic Disorders and the Fetus: Diagnosis, Prevention and Treatment (6th edition in preparation). He is the medical director of the Boston University School of Medicine Masters Degree Program in Genetic Counseling. He is an elected member of the Society for Pediatric Research and a fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics. He is the chair of the Vertical Integration Group in Genetics at Boston University School of Medicine.
Professor Belfort is known internationally for his work in maternal-fetal medicine and in particular on hypertension in pregnancy. He is the author or co-author of over 460 scientific communications. He is a co-editor of four books, including Preeclampsia: Etiology and Clinical Practice, and in preparation the second edition of Critical Care Obstetrics. He is past editor of the Journal of Hypertension in Pregnancy, and an editorial board member of the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Gynecologic and Obstetric Investigation. He has been honored repeatedly with awards for outstanding research and has been recognized for outstanding teaching. He has been listed in the Best Doctors in America, and received the HCA Perinatal Safety Initiative Award for Outstanding Team Contribution for Improving Care to Mothers and Newborns.
Professor Bootman is the founder and executive director of the University of Arizona Center for Health Outcomes and PharmacoEconomic Research, one of the first such centers developed in the world. Dean Bootman has authored more than 275 scientific articles and several books, including the first text book introducing the principles of pharmacoeconomics, now utilized in more than 40 countries and translated in seven languages. He was selected as one of the 50 most influential pharmacists in the U.S. by American Druggist. He was the recipient of the George Archambault Award (the highest honor given by the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists), the Latiolais Honor Medal (the highest honor in managed health care), the Hugo H. Schaefer Award for outstanding lifetime contributions by the American Pharmacists Association, and the Joseph P. Remington Honor Medal (the highest honor given by the profession of pharmacy to recognize distinguished service and lifetime contributions). As an elected member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies, he was the co-chair of the highly publicized report Preventing Medication Errors.
Professor Copeland is known internationally for his work in gynecologic oncology. He is the author or co-author of over 250 scientific communications. He is the editor of three books, the latest being the Textbook of Gynecology. Dr. Copeland serves on several editorial boards, including Panels of Surgical Oncology. He is a past president of the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists. He has been the recipient of multiple teaching awards, and has been listed for many years in the Best Doctors in America and America’s Top Doctors. Both Ladies’ Home Journal and Good Housekeeping have listed him in their Best Doctors for Women. He has been the recipient of the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Distinguished Alumnus Award.
Professor Finer is known internationally for his work in neonatology with special reference to neonatal critical care. He is the author or co-author of over 380 scientific communications. He is a past series editor of Contemporary Issues in Fetal and Neonatal Medicine, and a past president of the California Association of Neonatologists.
Dr. Griffin is known internationally for his work in cardiovascular medicine with special reference to echocardiography. He is the author or co-author of about 250 scientific communications, and is the co-author or co-editor of five books, the most recent of which is Intensive Review of Cardiovascular Medicine. Dr. Griffin has been the recipient of multiple Teacher of the Year Awards, and an award for excellence in cardiovascular medicine from the Kislak Foundation. Dr. Griffin is an associate editor of Heart and of the Cleveland Clinic Journal of Medicine. Dr. Griffin has been listed in both Best Doctors in America and Top Doctors in Ohio.
Professor Hauth is known internationally for his work in maternal-fetal medicine. He is the author or co-author of over 360 scientific communications. He is the co-editor of two books, the latest of which is Williams Obstetrics (22nd Edition).
Mr. Lanier is the founder of his law firm, in which he serves as lead litigation counsel. Mr. Lanier, as plaintiff’s counsel, has been described by the New York Times as “one of the top civil trial lawyers in America.” A cascade of accolades include the National Law Journal recognizing Mr. Lanier as one of the nation’s top ten trial attorneys in 1998 and 2006, and in 2006 designating him as one of the 100 most influential lawyers in America. The NLJ also named him among the countries 40 top attorneys under the age of 40. The American Lawyer Magazine named him as one of the top 45 attorneys in the nation under 45 years of age. In a survey of his legal peers published in Texas Monthly Magazine, he was selected as a “Texas Super Lawyer” for the past five years. The Texas Lawyer newspaper named him as the top personal injury lawyer in Texas in 2007, and one of the top five “Go To” personal injury plaintiff attorneys in Texas. Multiple articles in the New York Times and other leading print media have resulted in feature articles, and Mr. Lanier has also been a frequent guest on news shows, such as ABC’s “Good Morning America” and CNBC’s “Squawk Box.” He was selected as the Texas Tech University School of Law Distinguished Alumnus for 2005.
Professor Ma is known internationally for his work in emergency medicine. He is the author or co-author of over 170 scientific communications. He is the co-editor of eleven books, the latest being Emergency Ultrasound (2nd edition), while the 7th edition of Emergency Medicine: A Comprehensive Study Guide is in press. Professor Ma serves on the editorial board of Academic Emergency Medicine, and is an examiner for the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He is a member of the board of directors of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine. He has been the recipient of multiple Teacher of the Year awards, and a recipient of an award from the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine for Excellence in Ultrasound Education.
Professor Norwitz is known internationally for his work in maternal-fetal medicine. He is the author or co-author of over 400 scientific communications. He is the co-author or co-editor of nine books, the latest being The Oxford American Handbook of Obstetrics and Gynecology. His book, Obstetrics and Gynecology at a Glance (2nd edition), has been published in seven languages. Professor Norwitz, a Rhodes Scholar, has been the recipient of many honors and awards including multiple Best Speaker Awards, National Faculty Teaching Award, the Charles A. Hunter, Jr. Prize Thesis Award from the American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society, and the March of Dimes Award for Research in Prematurity. He has been listed in both America’s Top Obstetricians and Gynecologists and Best Doctors in America. He is editor-in-chief of Reviews in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and associate editor of Reproductive Sciences. He also serves on the editorial board of other prestigious journals.
Professor Novelline is known internationally for his work in emergency radiology and in radiology education. He is the author or co-author of over 260 scientific communications. He has authored or co-authored twelve books. He is the author of the 4th through 6th editions of Squire’s Fundamentals of Radiology, the world’s largest selling radiology textbook, now in five languages. Dr. Novelline is a founding member of the American Society of Emergency Radiology, and has served as president. He is the recipient of the American Society of Emergency Radiology’s Gold Medal. He was also the first president of the Alliance of Medical Student Educators in Radiology. Dr. Novelline received the Valentina Donahue-Turner Annual Teaching Award fifteen times at Harvard Medical School. He was also the recipient of the Outstanding Educator Award from the Radiology Society of North America, among many other awards and honors. Dr. Novelline has also served on the editorial boards of Radiology, Emergency Radiology, and Academic Radiology. He is an associate editor of Emergency Radiology.
Professor Resnick is known internationally for his work in psychiatry and the law with special reference to forensic psychiatry. He is the author or co-author of 113 scientific communications, as well as 24 audiotape productions and 18 videotape productions on a wide range of forensic psychiatric issues. He is an associate editor of the International Journal of Offender Therapy and Comparative Criminology, and is on six editorial boards of other prestigious journals, including Behavioral Sciences and the Law and the Journal of Threat Assessment. He is the editor or co-editor of two books, the last being on forensic psychiatry. Professor Resnick has provided consultation and testimony in many cases including at least 13 of major national interest. He has been the recipient of many achievement, educational and leadership awards for his contributions to forensic psychiatry, including the Golden Apple Award from the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law, and the American Psychiatric Association. He was also the recipient of the President’s Award for Distinguished Alumni at Case Western Reserve University. He has been listed in the Best Doctors in America for at least 15 years and, in 2004, was inducted into the Cleveland Medical Hall of Fame.
Professor Scott-Conner is known internationally for her work in gastrointestinal surgery, with special reference to laparoscopy and the treatment of breast cancer. Remarkably, she is an electrical engineer, surgeon, and Ph.D. anatomist, who also holds an M.B.A. She is the author or co-author of over 320 scientific communications, as well as 11 electronic publications and 14 films and videotapes. Professor Scott-Conner is the co-author or editor of nine books, the latest of which (currently in press) is SAGES Critical Decision Making in Minimal Access Surgery. She is a member of many editorial boards of prestigious journals including Surgical Oncology, Annals of Surgery, and the American Journal of Surgery. She is co-editor-in-chief of Surgical Laparoscopy, Endoscopy and Percutaneous Techniques. Professor Scott-Conner has been the recipient of many awards and prizes. She has been listed repeatedly in Best Doctors in America and America’s Top Doctors, and received the Distinguished Achievement Award from the University of Iowa’s Committee on the Celebration of Excellence Among Women in 2008. She was designated in 2004 as one of three “Local Legends” from the American Medical Women’s Association.
Mr. Scully’s legal practice includes medical malpractice defense, general tort litigation, products liability, professional liability and commercial litigation. Mr. Scully was named a Texas Super Lawyer in Texas Monthly and Law and Politics magazine for each of the past five years. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, barrister at the Dallas Inn of Court, and a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel. He serves as National Coordinating Counsel for one of the nation’s largest healthcare organizations, and as national counsel on birth injury litigation for several hospital systems.
