SIGHTSEEING AND INFORMATION FOR VISITING BOSTON WITH CHILDREN

We recommend visiting the Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau website at http://www.bostonusa.com.

CLIMATE AND CLOTHING

"You've probably heard the saying about New England weather: 'If you don't like it, wait 10 minutes.' Variations from day to day (if not minute to minute) can be enormous. You can roast in March and freeze in June, shiver in July and sweat in November. Dressing in layers is always a good idea. (From http://www.frommers.com)

Average temperatures for Boston in June are between 59 degrees Fahrenheit and 77 degrees Fahrenheit. (From http://www.weather.com)

Lightweight, comfortable clothes and walking shoes, a hat, and sunglasses are advised. Also bring a light waterproof jacket and a sweater, "just in case". Most Americans are casual dressers; however, for dining at better restaurants, a jacket and tie is recommended.

LANGUAGE

The official language of the conference is English. Both oral and written communications, presentations, and all printed material relating to the conference will be in English.

LOCAL TRANSPORT

Boston is a very walkable city. Many landmarks, restaurants, and shopping are within walking distance of the conference hotel. Public transportation (the MBTA, or the "T" - http://www.mbta.com) is one of the easiest ways to get around the city, and includes the subway system, bus system, and commuter rail. Taxis are also easily available from the lobby of the hotel.

NAME BADGES

Name badges will be provided at registration. You MUST have your name badge to attend all sessions, breaks and meals.

PASSPORT AND VISA

Obtaining the necessary passport and visa information is strictly the responsibility of the individual delegate. Letters of invitation to the conference will be sent upon request. For more information on obtaining a visa, please visit http://www.travel.state.gov.

REGISTRATION

The registration desk will be situated on the ballroom level of the Marriott Long Wharf Hotel. Dates and times of operation are to be determined.
