Educational
Needs Addressed |
Given the evidence of delayed reading achievement of children living in
poverty, the pediatric provider has a unique opportunity to help
by making anticipatory guidance about language development and early
literacy a part of all pediatric primary care.
Participants who successfully
complete this educational program will be able to:
- Summarize ROR strategies and explain the ROR model of literacy promotion.
- Identify and recognize challenges that parents face when reading to their young children and describe pediatrician methods of approaching those challenges.
- Determine appropriate books to be given to patients, and identify appropriate advice to convey to parents regarding the importance of reading aloud to young children.
