The Lindsay/Arrowsmith Library contains, in addition to standard reference works in the field (such as dictionaries, Loeb library volumes, and Oxford Classical Texts), the extensive collection given to the Classics Department by Professor William Arrowsmith, which is particularly strong in the areas of Greek poetry and drama.

The library is also a center for department gatherings of many kinds, including graduate seminars, receptions, faculty meetings, meetings of the Graduate Students Association, and lectures by visiting scholars.
