Thursday the 12th will see the return of the Undergraduate Classics Association's annual Certamen in CAS 213. A recitation contest and trivia bowl, the Certamen gives students a chance to test their knowledge of classical culture, history, and mythology. There will be plenty of food and drink with prizes for our contest winners.
Pizza and soda will be arriving at 6:00pm and the recitations will begin at 6:30pm, with the trivia bowl following immediately after.

and Religion Study Group hosted Rita Lucarelli (Research Fellow at the Italian Academy for Advanced Studies, Columbia University, and Professor, Universita degli Studi di Verona). Prof. Lucarelli's lecture was entitled "Divinized Demons and Demonized Gods in Late Pharaonic and Greco-Roman Egypt."

We are happy to announce that PhD student, V. Sophie Klein, is among the winners in a national competition for a production at the Manhattan Repertory Theatre in New York. Her play, The Spitting Image, is a story of metamorphosis, inspired by the myths of "Pygmalion & Galatea" and "Orpheus & Eurydice." A painter and his model use another to access the dark secrets hidden in her portrait. It's a journey of self-discovery through the reflection of art.
The play will run W-F, April 1-3, 2009 with possible extension through the weekend, April 4 & 5. It is playing at the Manhattan Repertory Theatre, which is located at 303 W. 42nd Street and it is being performed as part of Manhattan Rep's WinterFest 2009 new play festival.
