Master of City Planning
Jill Passano graduated from Boston University with a B.S. in public relations and is now a part-time MCP degree candidate expected to graduate in December 2009.
After growing up in Cumberland, Rhode Island by the age of eight she had hatched an elaborate scheme to leave boring suburban life for something dirtier, crazier, louder, and more diverse; and has since claimed her rightful spot in this world as an urban dweller in the city.
Without knowing there was a career path for people who were abnormally drawn to abandoned buildings, graffiti, waterfront industry, after-dark urban street life, and East Boston over Beacon Hill--in the fall of 2006, she enrolled in Professor Silva's Introduction to Urban Affairs course. It was then that she realized there was a community of urban enthusiasts and a course of academic study in her passion.
Jill’s studies focus on community empowerment and revitalization of urban areas that are considered blighted or economically depressed.
She currently lives in Jamaica Plain and works as the Assistant Director of Development and Alumni Relations at BU School of Medicine.
