John Weis

John holds a B.S in Economics from Boston College and an M.C.P. from
the University of Rhode Island.

John Weis has spent much of his career with two of the most dynamic Public Development entities in the country, the Boston Redevelopment Authority(BRA) and the San Jose Redevelopment Agency. While at the BRA in the ʼ70ʼs and 80ʼs he was the Director of Community Planning and later created the Cityʼs Neighborhood Development Agency for Mayor Kevin White. From 1994 to this year he held various positions in San Jose, most recently as itʼs Assistant Executive Director. With 1,050,000 residents San Jose is the tenth largest City in the United States and its Agency has traditionally been the largest in California. John was involved in a variety of projects including the creation of over 5,000 housing units, the retention of numerous companies including Cisco Systems, Ebay and Adobe and the creation of itʼs Biotechnology Incubator. While in San Jose John taught and lectured at San Jose State University.

Between these two careers John was Vice President of Kenney Development Company in Boston and was partner or project manager for over $100,000,000 in residential and mixed use projects most of which were historic rehabilitations. As a consultant to Boston University he was the project manager for the Campus Master Plan which converted the former Commonwealth Armory into Housing and the new Agganis arena. He taught part time at Boston University from 1982 to 1994.
