CH 111 Placement

The CH 111 Placement Exam is intended for students with some chemistry background who are registering for general chemistry and deciding between CAS CH 109 or CAS CH 111.  Please note that this is a placement exam and not a proficiency exam. Once you have completed the CH 111 Placement Exam, a recommendation will be emailed to you to aid in your decision making for course registration.

In order to complete the online CH 111 placement exam, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to https://chemhelp.bu.edu/moodle/. You may get a Security Certificate warning, but you can grant an exception as this site is secure.
  2. Create a new account. Please enter your BU ID number if it has been assigned.
  3. An email will be sent to you to confirm your registration. Follow the instructions in this email to confirm your account.
  4. If you are not already logged in, do so now.
  5. Click the “Chemistry 111 Placement Exam” or go directly to the exam.
  6. Click “Placement Exam” in the list.
