| Research/Activities |
- Our work focuses on both organic synthesis and the isolation
and structure determination of bioactive natural products, often
the latter area of research produces synthetic targets for the
former.Research in natural products endeavors to identify the active
components of extracts primarily from local and foreign medicinal
plants that have shown high activity in antitumor and antifungal
screens, or activity against drug resistant tuberculosis strains.
Our synthetic efforts explore novel applications of inverse electron
demand Diels-Alder reactions, homo Diels-Alder reactions, and other
chemistries. We are also investigating the suitablilty of these
reactions for solid phase synthesis.
