Founded in 1991, A Different September Foundation is the non-profit fund-raising organization of the Boston University/Chelsea Partnership. Its purpose is to advance the Partnership’s mission of reforming the public schools in Chelsea.  Because Boston University covers the Foundation’s operating costs, grants to the Foundation go directly and entirely to programs in the Chelsea Public Schools.

To date, ADSF has raised more than $12.4 million on behalf of the Chelsea schools. This funding helps to sustain a variety of programs in Chelsea, including the Intergenerational Literacy Project, a family literacy program; after-school and summer programs, which provide added academic opportunities for hundreds of Chelsea students per year; curricular reform and professional development initiatives; and performing and visual arts courses.
