Ecumenical Evening Prayer
From the very beginnings of Christianity, small groups have been an important part of the life and worship of the Church. The earliest followers of Christ gathered in small groups to worship in the catacombs below the Roman cities where they were persecuted for worshiping in larger public assemblies. John Chrysostom, a saint in the Church calendar, wrote a timeless prayer that promises that when two or three are gathered together in Christ’s name, God is in their midst. It is in that spirit that we meet every Wednesday throughout the term in the main chapel for an ecumenical service of Evening Prayer with Communion. As a worship community, we sing, pray, read scripture, and share our Lord’s Supper with one other. We would like to invite you to join us in knowing Christ by knowing one another. This service is sponsored by the Episcopal Chaplaincy at BU.
