Hours and Information
Gilbane Study Lounge
The Brendan F. Gilbane Study Lounge is a quiet, monitored area for study and concentration during the day or weekday evenings. Located on the first floor just behind the Jacob Sleeper Auditorium (JSA), it has wireless Internet access, ample seating and work space, and small group meeting rooms.
Room 130, 1st Floor
Monday–Thursday: 9 am to 9 pm
Friday: 9 am to 5 pm
NOTE: Between 12/12 and 12/15, the Gilbane Lounge will offer extended hours: 9 am to 11 pm every day.
Book Swap: Our Book Swap, found in the Gilbane Lounge (1st floor), allows you to take or leave any books on the shelf.
The Katzenberg Center provides at least one copy of each of the textbooks assigned for all CGS classes, and a variety of printed materials and study guides that faculty put on reserve for required reading. While materials are left on reserve, this is neither a research nor lending library. Instead, the Center is a great place for reading and quiet study.
The Center offers wireless Internet and has several computers for student use. Students may use the student printer using BU’s MyPrint.
Room 330, 3rd Floor
Monday–Thursday: 9 am to 5 pm
Friday: 9 am to 4 pm
Located in the Katzenberg Center, the Writing Center is a comfortable space where CGS students can meet with faculty to strengthen their writing and close reading skills. This is an excellent opportunity to receive one-on-one help with writing assignments, e.g. close reading, developing a thesis, documentation styles and more.
Students are urged to sign-up for an appointment at the reception desk of the Writing Center, Room 330 B, as early as possible—at least several days in advance during busy times.
