What You Need to Know, Now

Prepare for Registration: Registration is on Sunday, November 12, and it’s time to start preparing! Review the Registration Spring 2018 page and make the mandatory phone appointment with your academic advisor.

Class Schedule reminder: If you make adjustments to your class schedule, please consult your CGS academic advisor and the Pathways to a BU Degree on CGSNow. You are responsible for any changes that you make without consulting your advisor. Changes that veer from the Pathways to a BU Degree may impact your progress toward a degree.

#My100Days: Share with us how you’re spending your gap semester for a chance to win a $50 gift certificate to the BU Bookstore! Post on social media with the hashtag #My100days or if your social media is private, send your pictures and caption to cgscomm@bu.edu.

The January Boston-London Program Timeline features key dates and deadlines for the program. More information will be sent out each month via your BU email, and added to the checklist below.

Transfer policy: If you plan to take a course during the gap semester, please see our transfer policy for details, and be sure to consult with your academic advisor.

Monthly Newsletters: You will be receiving a monthly newsletter with news and to-do items. Make sure you set up your BU email account and check it regularly to get these updates! We will share a link to each monthly newsletter below.

Submit your enrollment deposit by May 1, 2017
Acknowledge your Financial Assistance Award (if applicable)
Create your BU email account (watch for an email with instructions)
Submit your BU Alert emergency notification system contact information
Contact CGS Student Services with any academic questions at cgs@bu.edu or at 617-353-2850
Choose an orientation session to attend (winter or summer)

Watch your inbox for an email from your CGS advisor
Submit your health form and Certificate of Immunization (Student Health Services will send you more information)
Ask your school to send a final transcript showing proof of your graduation
Submit your International Baccalaureate scores (if applicable)
Submit your Advanced Placement scores (if applicable)
Attend a University Summer Orientation Session (if you are not attending winter orientation)
Schedule an appointment with your CGS academic advisor to discuss plans for the fall
Apply for or confirm your passport is up-to-date
Explore the BU Housing website

 

Fall 2017

Submit your health form and Certificate of Immunization (Student Health Services will send you more information)
Explore the BU Housing website
Complete the New Student Housing Application (watch for an email with instructions)
Apply for or confirm your passport is up-to-date
Schedule an appointment with your CGS academic advisor and register for classes
Visit Student Accounting for details on the monthly payment plan (watch for an email with instructions)
Select a medical insurance plan (watch for an email with details)
Post on social media with the hashtag #My100Days to let us know how you’re spending the fall


Attend Winter Orientation if you did not attend Summer Orientation
Attend winter welcome events to connect with your classmates and faculty
Move into your residence hall
Find clubs and activities to join through the Student Activities Office and Weeks of Welcome events
Start classes on January 18, 2018
Take the T to explore the city of Boston
