Events and Activities sponsored by CGS student government:

• CGS Harbor Cruise (9/1/10)

Purchased sunglasses for all attendees, plus active online promotion of the event.

• SPLASH (8/29/10)

Partnering up with Lazybones laundry, gave away 400+ laundry bags to students while spreading awareness of CGSSGA. Collected 200+ email addresses.

• CGS T-Shirts (Present)

Ordered 400 T-Shirts for sale for CGS students, parents, alumni, and faculty. Under current business plan, we expect 2-3 K net profit to go into the CGSSGA budget. Major selling event expected to be Welcome Weekend (October)

• Comm Ave Fair (8/31/10)

Sold T-Shirts, spread awareness of CGSSGA, garnered email addresses.

• Online Activation (Present)

Created CGSSGA Facebook page, with 300+ subscribers as of today.

Created CGSSGA webpage  on the CGS website

• CGSSGA General Meeting (9/13/10)

Successfully organized catered first meet-and-greet session between E-board/Cabinet and freshmen members.

• New Cabinet Position: VP of Student Affairs

Created new position to manage team representatives, and to make sure that the opinions of the students are heard and that their concerns and requests are represented.

Future Plans/Events:

• Ben Bailey Comedy Show (9/17/10)

Partnering up with PC and CAS Student Government, organizing comedy show featuring Ben Bailey of Discovery Channel show Cash Cab w/ dessert bar, photo booth, and prize raffles. Venue: JSA in CGS. Expected attendance: 550+

• Faculty-Student Wiffle Ball Game (TBD)

Continuing last year’s tradition of a faculty-student wiffle ball game.

• Concert: The White Panda (November)

Collaborating with Hillel House and Sigma Alpha Mu, putting on a concert featuring DJ White Panda in the SAO Gym. Expected to sell out.

• Guest Lecture Series (TBD)

Partnering up with various other BU Colleges, feature guest speakers from various industries/professions. Particularly useful for CGS, considering many students are still unsure of their major/profession. These lectures potentially could help them decide, or at the very least offer more insight and information.

• Casino Night (January)

Collaborating with SMG, recreating last year’s successful Casino Night in the Metcalf Ballroom.

• CGS Formal (April)

Formal Dance for CGS Students. Location/details TBD.

• Purchase of CGS Mugs for Sophomores (May)
