Instruction
The Boylston Chess club aims to develop chess players
- by providing
a variety of opportunities for tournament
play
- including rated tournaments at several time controls,
- free entry for players under 16 years of age during some summer months,
- blitz, and especially
- monthly scholastic tournaments.
- and by direct instruction.
- We offer free lessons to young people and adults during the course of the year.
- We offer several scholastic chess clinics/camps during the year, usually during school vactions.
- We
sponsor lectures and seminars by masters on topics
of interest to players of average to expert and master level.
- E.g, 3 time US champion GM Larry Christiansen's seminars on attacking chess.
- We have a chess libary with instructional books, videos and collections of chessbase games.
Several of our members are professional chess teachers who are available for individual or group instruction and/or lectures.
