The September and January Boston-London Programs
Students enter into the College of General Studies (CGS) in either the September or January Boston-London Program. The programs merge in the fall of sophomore year to continue the CGS program together.
Students in the September Program begin their studies in the fall, embarking on our two-year, interdisciplinary program. CGS courses taken during the first year include social sciences, humanities, and rhetoric, complemented by an elective each semester. September students who wish to take advantage of CGS’s global program offerings can apply to one of the summer or fall CGS study abroad programs.

January Boston-London Program
The January Boston-London Program students begin their studies in January with a semester at BU in Boston. The cohort then completes freshman year with a six-week semester abroad in London during the summer. Courses in London are taught by College of General Studies faculty, and experiential learning opportunities–such as trips to museums, historical sites, and theatres–are wrapped into the program to reinforce and enhance the course material.
The unique January Boston-London Program courses integrates challenging coursework in the US and abroad, providing students with global perspectives in and out of the classroom. The January Boston-London and September programs merge in the fall of sophomore year to continue the CGS program together.
