CGS Program

The College of General Studies offers a global, interdisciplinary program.  Our two-year, integrated, liberal arts program focuses on the humanities, social sciences, rhetoric, and natural sciences. All of the courses here are taught solely by full-time Boston University faculty (all have PhDs), providing students direct access to engage with and learn from experts who are shaping their fields. In addition, our program offers students the flexibility each semester to explore other subject areas and take electives towards their intended major. At the end of sophomore year, students participate in a Capstone research project in which they propose a solution to a current national or global issue.

The College of General Studies program fulfills most of the University’s BU Hub general education requirements, helping students build the knowledge, skills and habits of mind that enable them to thrive in an increasingly complex and interconnected world
