Parents and Friends

While your student is the one who actually comes to CGS, we realize this is a matter involving the whole family. Parents help students decide on a college and most often help pay for it. You want the best for your children and will naturally be concerned with their well-being and education over the four years.
To get a sense of our College you may want to read some frequently asked questions.
Boston University and the College of General Studies invite you to become an active part of the BU community. Read the CGS and BU websites regularly to get a sense of BU student life, academic programs, research, and travel opportunities. BU Today and Bostonia offer rich perspectives on BU activities and people. You can participate in lectures and readings through streaming videos at BUniverse. If you like, subscribe to our weekly CGS e-newsletter to keep your finger on the pulse of CGS life (subscribe at cgs@bu.edu).
We invite you to visit CGS when you happen to be in Boston visiting schools during the college search, attending Open House for admitted students, the Parents’ track of Summer Orientation, or Parents’ Weekend (where you can meet your students’ professors and advisor), or participating in the many special events, lectures, performances, and sporting events that take place during the year. Although they don’t “graduate,” after two years your students will be alumni of CGS, so take advantage of Alumni events as well!
We hope to see you soon and often.
