RE: Emergency University Closing Procedures

DATE: December 2, 2011

The 2011-2012 University procedures for closing due to weather emergencies are ready for distribution. The radio and television stations listed are the only stations authorized to announce emergency closings for Boston University. Please distribute these procedures to all employees.

Supervisors should also acquaint themselves with Employee Handbook Policy #311 and appropriate labor agreements for further information on University Emergency Closing procedures.

As a reminder, it is the responsibility of each vice president and department head, in consultation with directors and supervisors, to notify employees in advance if their services are considered “essential” during a university closing. Essential services include, but are not limited to, University Police, Facilities Management and Planning, Mail Services, Student Health Services and the University Switchboard.

If you have any questions regarding these procedures, please call your Human Resources Consultant.
