Vote for Massachusetts’ New U.S. Senator!
If you are a U.S. citizen and will be 18 years old by December 8, 2009, you are eligible to vote in the Massachusetts Senatorial Election to replace the late Sen. Ted Kennedy. College students currently residing in Massachusetts (i.e. at a dormitory) may vote in Massachusetts elections. You must register to vote first. The deadline for registering to vote in the Senatorial primary is November 18, 2009, 20 days before the primary on December 8. The winner of the Democratic primary is heavily favored to win the General Election, which will take place on January 19, 2010.
CGS room 211 has Massachusetts Voter Registration forms to pick up. To register, fill out the form and sent it to the city or town hall in the municipality where you reside here at college. When you go to the polls, you may be asked for some proof of identification showing your name and your current address in Massachusetts.
If you are already registered in another town or city in Massachusetts, you may change your registration so that you may vote here rather than go home on Election Day. Fill out the form with your local address. If you are registered to vote in another state, your voter registration will be transferred to Massachusetts. Every time you move, you must fill out a new voter registration form in order to vote at your new location.
