INROADS: Innovations Research on HIV/AIDS

Project Description

In 2012, CGHD’s partner organization in South Africa, the Health Economics and Epidemiology Research Office (HE2RO), received a new five-year cooperative agreement from USAID/South Africa to continue and expand upon the body of work begun under CGHD’s previous funding award, the South Africa Associate Award.  The new program, called INROADS (Innovations Research on HIV/AIDS), will support CGHD’s collaboration with HE2RO through 2017.

Under INROADS, CGHD is providing technical assistance to HE2RO to implement research and evaluation in five major areas:

  • HIV care and treatment:  linkages, retention, and outcomes
  • TB/HIV:  case-finding, diagnosis, and treatment
  • Service delivery models and treatment guidelines
  • Cost and budget modeling
  • Sexual and reproductive health:  women, adolescents, and men

Activities under this project include:

CGHD faculty are also helping to build South Africa’s capacity for epidemiological and economic analysis through the delivery of short courses and workshops.
