Applied Economics

As the global economic downturn has further tightened the resources available for public health and development, understanding the economics of health and other social sector interventions has become increasingly important. The CGHD conducts applied economics research and evaluation on a wide range of issues. Areas of emphasis and global leadership in applied economics research include the costs, cost-effectiveness, and benefits of HIV/AIDS care and treatment and of interventions to improve the welfare of orphans and vulnerable children (OVC).
