BUSM's Global Health Equity Program Speaker Series will welcome Dr. Demet Gural, Vice President of Technical and Program Strengthening for Pathfinder International. Dr. Demet Güral is Pathfinder International’s Vice President of Technical and Program Strengthening and a physician and a public health specialist with more than 25 years of experience in sexual and reproductive health programs and primary health care management. As Vice President of Technical and Program Strengthening, Dr. Gural oversees the implementation of Pathfinder strategies through her supervision of the Programs Systems, Technical Services, and Research & Metrics Units. Early in her career, Dr. Gural served as a valuable member of Pathfinder. From 1996-1998, she served as the Chief of Party for Pathfinder’s award-winning Comprehensive Postpartum Project in Amman, Jordan. In the years prior, she served as Associate Director for Asia/Near East, Regional Medical Director, and Pathfinder’s Country Representative for Turkey. She has also served as Executive Director of Willows Foundation, which has extensive reproductive health programs in Turkey and Ghana. There, she focused on integrating community-based services and finding innovative ways to reach out to underserved populations. In addition, she has served as Executive Director for the Human Resource Development Foundation in Turkey, where she established a diversity program in sexual reproductive health and rights for vulnerable groups in Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan and initiated the first NGO anti-human trafficking program in Turkey and raised more than $1.5 million to support the program.
