South Africa Country Program

The Health Economics and Epidemiology Research Office (HE²RO) a collaboration between CGHD and the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg provides a base for the center’s research on the economics and epidemiology of HIV/AIDS prevention care and treatment in South Africa.  The CGHD has had a local presence in South Africa since October 2003. Through HE²RO, CGHD researchers work closely with fellow scientists from the University of the Witwatersrand’s Clinical HIV Research Unit, Right to Care, and other local institutions and receive support from USAID and other funders.
