Outside Activities

While much of a Visual Arts Summer Institute student's time is devoted to course-related activity, ample extracurricular activities are also planned.

Summer in Boston

Boston is famous for its rich history, abundant charm, and natural beauty. For Visual Arts Summer Institute students, access to the city's historical and cultural sites is as easy as jumping on the “T” (the public transit system). Movies, museums, restaurants, theaters, free concerts, art exhibitions, parks, and beaches are some of the recreational and cultural riches that await summer residents of Boston.

Favorite Visual Arts Summer Institute outings include the Museum of Fine Arts, a Blue Man Group performance, Red Sox games at nearby Fenway Park, as well as trips to local beaches and parks.

On-Campus Activities

In addition to classes, students participate in a variety of recreational activities on the Boston University campus. They attend sponsored weeknight and weekend events, such as open drawing sessions and movie nights, as well as indoor swimming and rock wall climbing, all of which enable participants to enjoy a shared sense of campus life.
