Graduate Admissions Procedures

These procedures should be followed for all programs. In addition, please review specific application requirements for the School and program to which you are applying Prospective students must apply online. Applicants to the College of Fine Arts must submit a complete application, including all supporting materials before auditioning or submitting a portfolio.  This includes programs that require a preliminary audition.

The College of Fine Arts offers graduate programs leading to the degree of Master of Music, Master of Fine Arts, (Theatre), Master of Fine Arts (Visual Arts), and Doctor of Musical Arts. An Artist Diploma in Music Performance, post-masters Performance Diploma, a Certificate from the Opera Institute, and Artisan Certificate from the School of Theatre are also offered.

Applications to all programs must include:

  • Completed College of Fine Arts application for graduate admission.
  • Resumé
  • Official transcript from each college attended, to be requested by applicant.
  • Two-page statement of purpose describing your career goals and why you are applying
  • Non-refundable application fee of $70

Please do not enclose application materials in extra envelopes, binders, folders, or plastic covers. In addition, be sure to review specific application requirements for the School and program to which you are applying.

The College of Fine Arts reviews applications for September admission. Under certain circumstances, the School of Music will review applications for January admission. Please contact the School of Music prior to applying.

The School of Music also offers on line programs in music education which accept students several times per year.
