The curriculum incorporates a core set of classes, electives, and performance projects. The core classes include acting (improvisation, monologue work, and scene study), dramatic literature, movement, and singing. Workshops throughout the summer will introduce participants to a variety of subjects. In years past, these workshops have included directing, playwriting, Shakespearean performance, stage combat, and audition technique.
Each student is cast in a performance project that rehearses throughout the five weeks. At the program's end, all students perform in the Boston University Theatre Lab. Past projects include A Midsummer Night's Dream, Romeo and Juliet, and The Rimers of Eldritch.
Classes meet daily, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Evening rehearsals for the performance project meet Tuesday through Thursday, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., with an additional Saturday rehearsal.
