Boston University Theatre
264 Huntington Avenue

A satiric and comedic fable, and a Pulitzer Prize winner for Drama from the author of Our Town. Thornton Wilder’s ambitious play follows the Antrobus family–both middle-class Americans and allegorical characters–through a non-linear journey spanning centuries of war, plague, and even an ice age. A celebration of humanity’s inventiveness and endurance, The Skin of Our Teeth serves as the School of Theatre’s culminating event in the College of Fine Arts’ year-long examination of Keyword: Resilience.

Feedback from recent high school-aged attendees:

“The actors were very well cast and clearly had put a lot of time and effort into researching their characters. They knew about about the story, the characters, and clearly showed so in the talk-back that followed the play. They were all spot on!  This play has surely left a lasting impression on me, and my classmates. Thank you very much for allowing me a view into the world of Miss Helen, and her quest for her personal mecca. It has helped me realize how to find my own.” – JB Belton, Beacon High School, The Road to Mecca

“The play was one of the best play experiences I have had in the theater. The actors portrayed the characters in such a way that I felt like a part of the play. The setting was breathtaking as well. The use of recycled bottles, and so many of them, was masterfully done. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the play.” – Brittany Keegan, Beacon High School, The Road to Mecca
