Theatre Arts (BFA)
The BFA Theatre Arts program offers unique training for students with vital theatrical sensibilities and wide-ranging interests and abilities. The Performance track offers two approaches that serve two kinds of students: those who demonstrate the maturity to create an interdisciplinary program combining theatre with another field of study, and those who demonstrate the sustained motivation and imagination to create original works. The Design & Production track offers students interested in exploring the greater vision of creating and staging theatre a chance to blend disciplines and create their own program.
This interdisciplinary approach allows a student to develop a unique curriculum in close and continuing consultation with faculty mentors. Students participate in the creation of original works and follow a program of study that exposes them to increasingly demanding exercises in performance, adaptation, writing, directing, and producing. This approach provides exceptional preparation for apprenticeship or graduate work in any of these areas.
The student who chooses the Design & Production track works with his/her advisor to create a program that fits his/her individual needs and grows with the student as his/her understanding of the art of creating theatre deepens.
