The Spectrum Arts Festival Lifetime Achievement Award is presented by the arts community of Boston University to an artisan who, throughout their life, has fully embodied and promoted the arts, achieving excellence in their field. In doing so, they have been an exemplary model of the values that define Boston University and its student body.
As an arts community, we represent a broader spectrum of the arts than any other institution in the world, and are home to the Redstone Film Festival; Fringe Festival; Boston University Opera Institute; School of Theatre, Music, and Visual Arts; and many nationally acclaimed pop, rock, jazz, a cappella, world music, and dance groups. Our work in these and many other artistic mediums reflects our community’s creative talent and our efforts to give insight to our individual cultures, values, and beliefs. It is through this willingness to question and push into new frontiers that Boston University stands as a definitive center for the arts.
It is in this tradition that the Spectrum Arts Festival is proud to present its Lifetime Achievement Award to those who have reached out to many through their art, promoted the arts as an intimate part of our world, strived to represent their own voice through the common language of art, and who have never ceased to actively question the world around them. It is to those who share these beliefs and values that we would like to demonstrate our deep respect and tremendous gratitude.
