A day-long professional development event for Boston University School of Visual Arts alumni, undergraduate and graduate students, held in collaboration with the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA).
Boston University School of Visual Arts has partnered with The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) to deliver NYFA’s renowned day-long Artist as Entrepreneur program on Saturday, November 16. The workshop is specially customized to fit the needs of BU students and alumni. It offers the fundamental principles of sustainability—and ultimately profitability—in the arts. This workshop will focus on elements of strategic planning, fundraising, and marketing, with additional material drawn from NYFA’s newly-revised second edition of The Profitable Artist (Allworth Press, 2018).
Geared towards nurturing a network and community amongst participants, the program offers a blend of interactive sessions, formal lectures, and breakout groups, covering a broad range of topics that are important for artists to sustain their fine arts practice.
Participants will be guided through the Business Model Canvas, a flexible and dynamic planning tool that lays out a blueprint for artists’ career goals. In-depth content focused on grant-writing and funding applications will be a key component of the program.
An opportunity for networking is provided from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
This program is a unique opportunity to connect with other artists from the Boston University School of Visual Arts, and to build a strong, supportive network while you build the business skills essential to your creative career.
