Crafts for Kids: A Sustainable Craft Fair for Charity
This craft fair is hosted by the Art History Association at BU and will benefit Birthday Wishes, a registered non-profit organization that throws birthday parties for homeless children in Boston, Long Island and Rhode Island. All money raised will go towards purchasing art supplies for the children to experience craft-making at their parties. You can find out more information about the charity at birthdaywishes.org. Arts and crafts for sale will include sculptures, prints, paper flowers, recycled vases, jewelry created out of electronic materials, sculptures, notebooks, and thrift items such as donated books and jewelry. The event will encourage a creative, DIY lifestyle, so there will be several booths designated for guests to create crafts for free. This will include complimentary art supplies and demonstrations by volunteers. Visitors will be able to create live terrariums in recycled objects among other crafts. There will be sustainable facts and tips as well as an observation beehive at the event. Viewers will be able to look at pollen and live honeybees creating honey. Work will be on view by CFA students, including Molly Rosner, Alexander Golob, Stephanie Creag and Jasmyne Raneri.
