String Quartet Workshop
Ages 14 – 20
The String Quartet Workshop is highly competitive and intended for advanced players who have had considerable chamber music experience. Under the direction of eminent pedagogue, chamber musician, and violinist Bayla Keyes, students devote two intensive weeks to learning two major works from the string quartet repertoire. Members of the celebrated Muir String Quartet will be in residence as coaches, as well as Michelle LaCourse and Robert Merfeld. Students will participate in master classes and readings. Students will also have the unique opportunity to observe coachings of the String Quartet Program at the Tangelwood Music Center. In the past, members of the Juilliard String Quartet, the Emerson String Quartet, and various members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra have led these sessions.
