Prospective students are encouraged to apply online. Applicants to the College of Fine Arts must submit all required application materials before the audition or prior to the time that the portfolio is sent. Please do not enclose application materials in extra envelopes, binders, folders, or plastic covers.

Applications to all graduate and certificate programs must include

  • A completed application for admission as a graduate student
  • A resume
  • Official transcripts from each college and graduate school attended, to be requested by the applicant
  • Statement explaining why you are applying and outlining future goals
  • A nonrefundable $70 application fee payable to Boston University

The College of Fine Arts reviews applications for September admission. Under special circumstances, the School of Music will review applicants for January admission. Please contact the School of Music Admissions Office. The School of Visual Arts and the School of Theatre review applications for September admission only.
