| The Music Minor in Performance is a minor through the School of Music in the College of Fine Arts. It is intended for student musicians with previous substantive music training and experience. | |
Who is eligible |

| The minor is available for all regularly enrolled Boston University undergraduates. It is not a viable option for those students wishing to experience an introduction to music study. | |
Are private lessons available through this program? |

| Lessons are not only available, they are a required part of the curriculum. For more information on lessons please visit the lessons page of this site. | |
Who teaches private lessons? |

| Private lessons are taught by School of Music graduate students recommended by their departments, adjunct instructors, and full-time School of Music faculty members. Assignment of a teacher to a music minor in performance student will be at the discretion of the School of Music. |

What ensembles are available? |

| Currently, the ensembles available for the Music Performance minor are: Marching Band Concert Band Jazz Ensemble All Campus Orchestra Vocal Jazz Symphonic Chorus Any student wishing to audition for the MU 650 Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestras, or Wind Ensemble must complete 2 credits of lessons and 2 credits of BUMO large ensembles prior to petitioning for an audition.Ê Petitions will be handled through the Director of BUMO programs. |

How do I register for a Music Minor in Performance. |

| To register for the Music Minor in Performance, first fill out and submit the Interest Form so that you are entered into our system and appropriate information can be forwarded to you. Then, schedule an audition for one of the large ensembles. The BU Bands website will have all audition information posted as of July 1. | |
