Opera Theater

The School of Music selects a few graduate and undergraduate (juniors and seniors only) singers who demonstrate true operatic potential and have mastered an intermediate integration of acting, vocal, and movement skills. Coursework includes acting; dramatic and musical coaching of scenes and arias; movement classes; language diction; scenes participation; and auditions and master classes. Opera Theater joins the Opera Institute in the casting pool for principal roles and for ensemble participation in Fringe Festival and mainstage productions. Admission by audition.

Opera Workshop

Graduate and undergraduate (juniors and seniors only) singers are selected who demonstrate true operatic potential, have mastered a beginning level of acting and vocal skill, and who need experience, integration, and refinement. Coursework includes acting, musical coaching, movement, stage and audition techniques, and master classes. The class culminates in performance of opera scenes and possible ensemble participation in Fringe Festival and/or mainstage productions. Admission by audition.
