PhD, Curriculum & Instruction, University of Wisconsin-Madison; BM, MM, Music Education, Northwestern University. Dr. Kos is the coordinator of and a senior fellow with the Music Education Policy Project at Boston University. He teaches courses in Psychology & Sociology, Research Methods, Secondary General Music, and Contemporary Issues. Prior to his appointment at Boston University, he taught undergraduate courses in music education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He taught instrumental, choral, and general music in Illinois and Wisconsin. His research interests include state and federal education policy implementation and professional development for in-service teachers. He regularly presents research at national and international conferences. He has published articles in Arts Education Policy Review and Massachusetts Music News and is a regular contributor to Education Review. He is a member of the editorial board for the book series Advances in Music Education Research. His professional affiliations include memberships in The American Educational Research Association, The International Society for Music Education, MENC, the College Music Society, the Percussive Arts Society, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
