Justin D. Casinghino
Lecturer, Composition and Theory | email@example.com
Casinghino’s studies of composition include work with Gunther Schuller, Lukas Foss, Theodore Antoniou and Richard Cornell. He has had pieces requested and performed by such groups as ALEA III, the Longy Chamber Orchestra, the Longitude New Music Ensemble, the Contemporary Players New Music Ensemble and the Juventas New Music Ensemble, and has had electronic works programmed on national SEAMUS conferences. Casinghino is an affiliated artist in the MIT theory department, is the Assistant Director of the Young Artists’ Composition Program at BUTI, taught for several years in BU’s electronic music studio, and is a facilitator for the BU online theory program. Casinghino is also the founder and director of the Boston Composers’ Coalition, a recently formed group that is dedicated to the collaborative creation, education and dissemination of new American music. A firm believer that pedagogy is an art within itself, Casinghino takes great pride in his students of composition who have won a host of ASCAP Young Composer and Downbeat composition awards, and earned commissions and performances by the Boston Pops, the Newton Symphony Orchestra, Dinosaur Annex and MYWE. Casinghino also performs throughout the New England area with several groups in the popular idioms.
