CONCERT ACTIVITIES
March 16, 2004 marks the first
anniversary of the tragic loss of John Daverio. On this date, please
join the School of Music in observing a minute of silence between
11 am and 12 noon.
On March 22 we will have two events to honor John.
A brief prayer service will be held at the Marsh Chapel
at 6:00 pm led by Dean Robert Neville, and Crossing
Paths: A Tribute to John Daverio, a recital of Schubert,
Schumann and Brahms vocal music will be given by members of the
voice faculty in the Tsai Center at 8:00 pm. Please
join together with the School of Music to remember our beloved friend
and colleague, John Daverio.
Alea III - "Lament for John,"December 8, 2003,
8 pm at the Tsai
Performance Center.
A memorial concert was held at 8 p.m. on October
23, 2003, at Boston University's Tsai
Performance Center. The program included the Boston University
Chamber Orchestra with Yuri and Dana Mazurkevich performing the
Vivaldi Double Violin Concerto, followed by the Brahms Sonata in
A Major with Yuri and Maria Clodes-Jaguaribe. The Muir Quartet and
Robert Merfeld, piano, concluded the program with the Schumann Piano
Quintet.
The Chancellor, Dr. Silber, has commissioned a work to be composed
by Professor Theodore Antoniou which will be performed at a Symphony
Hall concert in November 2004.
MUSICOLOGY
Musicology Symposium - A Tribute is planned for
Fall 2004.
