James Patrick Nelson has appeared regionally on the west coast in such productions as Taming of the Shrew, The Browning Version (Taplow), The Lion in Winter (John) and Rhinoceros (Logician). In 2004, he was one of ten people recognized in the discipline of theatre by the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, facilitated by Anthony Rapp. For the past two summers, he has been touring New England with the longest running classical touring company in America, the National Players, appearing in Much Ado About Nothing (Don John) and The Tempest (Gonzalo). He has recently returned from studying abroad at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA), where he peformed in Man of Mode (Dorimant) and Antony and Cleopatra (Antony). While pursuing his BFA at the Boston University School of Theatre, he has appeared in such varied plays as Stop Kiss (Peter), Woyze! ck (Showman), Arcadia (Ezra Chater), Playing for Time (Heinz), Tartuffe (Cleante), Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead (Claudius), two new plays called A House Full of Dust (David) and Veronika Decides to Die (Igor), and his recently completed senior thesis Black Boots: A Beginning. He will soon finish his BU career playing various leaders of this not-so-free world in David Hare's Stuff Happens. He looks towards these coming years with curiosity and excitement about future colleagues to meet, audiences to touch, and stories to tell.
