Some area resources may be of interest to visiting scholars
H. C. Robbins Landon Collection
The H. C. Robbins Landon Collection at Boston University contains an extensive collection of Landon’s papers and working materials. Materials are available at two locations, both located inside the Mugar Memorial Library at 771 Commonwealth Avenue.
- Original manuscripts, early editions and personal papers are available in the Howard Gottlieb Archival Research Center. Visiting scholars are encouraged to contact the Archive staff to schedule an appointment in advance.
- Manuscript reproductions (including more than 200 microfilms collected by Landon), working materials and recordings are available at the Music Library. The Music Library has also produced a short bibliographic reference, inventory and guide to the collection. Scholars can access the collection by visiting the library in-person, or pre-arrange an appointment by contacting the Music Library staff.
Handel and Haydn Society Archives
The archives of Boston’s Handel and Haydn Society – including concert programs, performance records and manuscript scores – are contained at the Boston Public Library at Copley Square. Materials are split between the Allen A. Brown Music Collection and the Rare Books & Manuscript Department.
