Message From the Dean
It is a great pleasure to introduce you to the Boston University College of Fine Arts, a world leader in arts education. Students and faculty comprise a community of artists in three Schools: Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts.
Each School offers personal, conservatory-style training in a constructive and supportive environment. Our faculty of leading artists, performers and scholars, many with international reputations in their fields, is carefully chosen for their ability and passion as teachers.
Within a major research University, CFA offers our students access to coursework from other schools that broaden and deepen their knowledge and outlook as artists. We are developing an expanding number of academic collaborations across the University especially tailored to help in the development of an artist for the 21st century.
Our location in the heart of Boston offers students the resources of one of America’s most vibrant cultural centers. Renowned art museums, theatre companies and symphony orchestras are all within walking distance of our campus, as are galleries, libraries and neighboring colleges. Everywhere you look there is evidence that in Boston, art matters.
We are proud of our storied past but it is the daily renewal and artistic transformation that occurs in our class rooms, studios, practice areas, and on stage, that fills the College with an atmosphere of anticipation and excitement. I invite you to experience it for yourself by taking a tour, attending a production, exhibit, concert or by pursuing your own artistic future.
