2013 Elliot Norton Awards
School of Theatre alumnus Will Lyman receives distinguished Norton Prize for sustained excellence, School of Theatre Alumni recognized by Boston Theater Critics Association

Boston, MA – Boston University College of Fine Arts is pleased to announce that three School of Theatre alumni received Elliot Norton Awards by the Boston Theater Critics Association for 2012 productions at Small, Fringe, or Midsize Theaters in the regions, including Will Lyman (CFA ’71), the 2013 recipient of the Norton Prize for Sustained Excellence, the Boston Theater Critics Association’s lifetime achievement award, and most distinguished accolade. Awards included:

In addition, CFA congratulates School of Theatre Director Jim Petosa for his role as Artistic Director at New Repertory Theatre, boasting two Norton Award-receiving productions this season: Chesapeake and Long Day’s Journey into Night.

Lastly, CFA recognizes four core Professional Theatre Initiative (PTI) partners that received 2013 Norton Award Nominations including Huntington Theatre Company, CFA’s professional theatre company in residence, boasting seven nominations. PTI partner nominations include:

The Elliot Norton Awards were presented on Monday, May 13 at Paramount Theater by the Boston Theater Critics Association. The association is led by Joyce Kulhawik, and includes Don Aucoin, Jared Bowen, Terry Byrne, Carolyn Clay, Nick Dussault, Iris Fanger, Sandy MacDonald, Kilian Melloy, Robert Nesti, and Ed Siegel. Boston, MA – Boston University College of Fine Arts is pleased to announce that School of Theatre student, Mason Sand (CFA ’13) has been nominated for an Elliot Norton Award by the Boston Theater Critics Association for Outstanding Actor in its Small or Fringe Theatre category for his role as Uday Hussein in Company One’s production of Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo. Company One is a core member of the BU Professional Theatre Initiative (PTI), a network of professional theater companies dedicated to providing stimulating, creative interactions for the BU School of Theatre community.
