The Metcalf Cup and Prize is awarded to one full-time faculty member of the university based upon the candidate's teaching statement, teaching evaluations, syllabi, and recommendations from faculty peers and students. University Scholar/Teacher of the Year Award recognizes one faculty member per year based upon his/her contribution to learning and the university. It was established by the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry of The United Methodist Church. The University Scholar/Teacher of the Year Award is bestowed at the New Faculty Orientation ceremony in early September each year.
