PRIMARY TEACHERS
Renée Delatizky
Ms. Delatizky has extensive experience as a senior lecturer in English as a Second Language in higher education and also as a consultant for professional adults in a continuing education environment. She has a Master of Science degree in Adult Education from Syracuse University, a postgraduate diploma in higher education, and a B.A. in English and Political Science. She has been a senior lecturer, at all proficiency levels, at Boston University, CELOP, for 25 years and has also held many program administration positions including: coordinator of Part-Time Programs, Instruction and Materials Research Coordinator, Academic Program Coordinator, and Summer Programs Coordinator. She also directed the International Research and Exchange Board (IREX) East European Program. Ms. Delatizky supervises student teachers and field observers from Boston University’s TESOL program. Her most recent interests include the use of video, computers and the internet to facilitate language learning. She has also been working with professionals in a business environment (Verizon) since 1980, honing their English language skills for career advancement. Ms. Delatizky has experience as a secondary school English teacher.
John Kopec
Mr. Kopec has an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from Ohio University. He has been teaching at CELOP for 30 years. He has also done teacher training at Boston University and Clark University in Worcester, MA. John has taught EFL and ESL in Morocco, Iran, Poland, Japan and China.
GUEST LECTURERS
Steven J. Molinsky is Professor of Education at Boston University, where he directs the Graduate Program in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. He holds M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Linguistics from Harvard University. His primary interest is the development of innovative approaches to language teaching. He has taught methodology courses at Boston University for more than thirty years and has worked with teachers-in-training from throughout the world. He is co-author of the Side by Side English Series, Side by Side TV, the award-winning multimedia software program, Side by Side Interactive, ExpressWays, Foundations, Communicator, and the Word by Word, Word by Word Basic, and Word by Word Primary Vocabulary Development Programs. Dr. Molinsky has given numerous teacher-training workshops throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, and Asia. He is the 1982 recipient of the Boston University Metcalf Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Maria Tomeho-Palermino has an M.A. in Education with a specialization in TESOL from Boston University. She has over 25 years of experience teaching ESL and EFL in the US, Europe and Asia. She also manages and teaches Business Communications for foreign executives for Boston University’s School of Management. Maria is particularly interested in creating contextualized lessons for language instruction and teacher training.
Cori Weiner holds an M.A. in Slavic Linguistics from the University of California at Los Angeles as well as a B.A. in Russian Literature from Cornell University. Her background as a reading teacher ranges from working in an adult literacy program and Russian-English bilingual schools to university-level ESL programs throughout the United States.
