ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND CULTURE CLASS
The English Language and Culture class focuses on strengthening all English skill areas including reading, writing, speaking, listening and vocabulary development. Boston and U.S. culture will be part of the curriculum.
ENGLISH TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Pronunciation and Oral Presentation Skills
This session will include an overview of American English phonemes and discussion of the role pronunciation plays in the ESL/EFL classroom and the ‘world’ outside the classroom as well as discussion of key elements for teachers and students to consider when doing oral presentations in the ESL/EFL classroom or at professional conferences. Audience brainstorming and participation will be strongly encouraged. |

Reading Strategies for Teaching ESL Learners
This workshop will focus on strategies to help your students improve reading speed and comprehension. Topics will include guessing at unknown vocabulary words, skimming the text, and connecting the reader with the text. Hands-on learning will be encouraged. |
REFLECTION/DISCUSSION SECTION
These reflection and discussion sessions will enable students to share their ideas about what they have been learning and how this can be applied to their own professional settings.
VISITS TO LOCAL SCHOOLS
Participants will also have the opportunity to visit and observe American high school language classes in local public schools.
